Some terminology: making or piecing a quilt refers to the production of the top layer of a quilt; the cutting out and arranging of pieces of different coloured materials into a pattern. Quilting refers to the stitching which binds the three layers together usually in another pattern which compliments the piecing pattern. To add confusion, quilting also refers to the whole process if everything is done by the same person.
This Bear Claw design is one of my first quilts. I made it for the Manly Room in our Victoria B&B. This was before I had my own longarm machine so I took it to a custom longarm quilter, Theresa Ranson, who quilted it with an expanding circles pattern.
This Log Cabin quilt was also an early work, made for the Summer Room in our B&B. It was quilted by Theresa Ranson with an offset squares design which is easier to see in the second picture.
A Jacob's Ladder quilt, not my favourite colours but made to match the room, which we later redecorated. I had my machine at this point so all quilts from here on were pieced and quilted by moi.
The Snails Trails quilt below was custom made as a gift for our daughter-in-law's sister.
This Log Cabin quilt was custom made for B&B guests from Ontario who liked the green/blue/yellow one above but wanted their own colours.
This Dresden Plate design is another custom quilt made for friends/B&B guests from Ontario. It was one of the harder quilts to make but also one of my favourites. The first picture is of the pieced top; the second picture shows the finished product with quilting applied and matching accessories included. Because I buy my fabric in bolts or half bolts I had enough to make two quilts which I did. The second quilt was used in our B&B for a short period before another guest from Ontario bought it as a coming of age gift for her daughter. Some might think our B&B was just a cover for the quilt business; pun intended.
