Wall Hangings
I'm a seasonal decorator so I have a collection of wall hangings that I rotate by season. I use a country theme and I like chickens and bird houses.
This one was made by a paper piecing method. It looks more complicated than it actually was.
My son and his wife are large-animal vets in Saskatchewan. This is a pillow sham for their king size bed. It looks busy this close up but I wanted to show how the quilting pattern compliments the piece work pattern.
Note the chicken wire pattern in the quilting below.
This greets our guests from mid-Feb to mid-March.
Clothing
I always enjoyed making girls clothes and made hundreds of outfits for my daughter and friends and neighbours over the years. Even made a few outfits for my son which he presumably has forgiven me for; he hasn't mentioned them lately.
I made the coat below for my granddaughter in Saskatchewan. She has since graduated to hockey gear. Below that are some heirloom nighties that I make and sell for $75. And below that are some dresses I made for granddaughters attending weddings.
Pillows
I like making decorator pillows. Here are two of my latest.
and Bears!
These bears were made from old chenille sheets. These bears were made from an old fur coat of an aunt's. I took a course in bear making, bought the inner workings (shell & joints etc.) , and managed to make two complete bears before I retired from this hobby forever (too hard on the hands). I kept one for us and gave the other to the aunt's daughter who lives in San Antonio (she is my husband's cousin, and a quilter as well). |
